Such sad news. Here is one of my endearing memories of Ross.
We were flying back from Moree on a Fokker Friendship one Friday night, sitting together. Maybe about 1985? I must have been up there running a satellite course and he’d been doing some technical engineering task. Ross liked a beer, as did (do) I. But Ross was a bit larger in stature than the beanpole I was, and he could knock them over in no fashion. The flight time was only about 1 hour and by the time we saw the lights of Sydney we had 6 empty cans lined up in front of us. I rang the call attendant button to get her to come clean up the empties. But instead, she brought another two opened beer cans! Standard procedure for the Fokker is to land with the cockpit door open, and passengers can see out the front windscreen. So, Ross and I are trying to skull these beers as quickly as possible, whilst watching the Sydney runway approaching fast, and for a small bloke like me, it was quite a challenge. Not so for Ross, though.

Ross was Manager at Perth International Telecommunications Centre (PITC) for a short period in the 1990’s. I can’t remember his exact title, they seemed to rotate a lot of Engineers through PITC at one stage with so many engineering projects going on.
A nice bloke. So sad he’s gone so young.

That is very sad news indeed. I worked with Ross at Perth ITC.
He was a very decent person

This is extremely saddening. I also feel so sad for his wife and children.
Ross was my supervisor prior to the creation of Reach. He was an extremely gentle man who seemingly didn’t let too much bother him. A pleasure to work with.
Unfortunately, this is the first time I have been aware if his whereabouts since I retired in 2001.
Too young to die Ross!
