It is with deep regret that I advise of the passing of Danny Yee last Friday 4-1-2013 aged 72 after a long illness which has been reported in the Sick List of this BLOG for several weeks. Many thanks to Paul Mulcahy, Vernon Yen and others for advising of Danny’s passing.
More from Kevin O’Brien extracted from OTC Transit articles in which Danny appeared. The first is circa 1990 and the second 1992:
The following attended Danny’s funeral and the celebration of his life held afterwards at the Strathfield golf club. It was good to reminisce and relive the great times that we shared as part of the OTC family: John Eades, Robert Brand, Mani Subramani, Peter Bull, George Woloszuk, Chris Stanley, Kee Lam, Brian Travis, Paul Bewley, Peter Hewins, Bill Breeze, Ray Volpatti, Justin Richards & Norman Stagnitta.

From Vernon Yen:
I received the following news that another of our dear colleagues is now at rest.
Daniel Yee (tech at Paddo/Broadway) passed away, last night, at Concord Hospital where he spent several months as an in-patient. Danny, as he is known to his friends and colleagues is survived by his wife, Molly, and two daughters, Geraldine and Roanne.
Roanne lives in Germany with her husband Thomas and son Theo.
Grateful if you would pass this on. Many Thanks.
From John Eades:
Peter I received your email re Danny and as you said it hits hard when you have worked with the guy and you know him well. Some people leave a permanent impression as they pass through ones life and Danny was one of those guys. Really sorry to read your email and more so that he had a battle on his hand for some time before he passed away.
From Jim Hulme:
I am sad to hear this. He was a great guy.
From Kevin O’Brien:
I am sorry to hear about Danny.
From memory, I think he started in OTC around 1973. He came to us from Fiji and worked in Suva on COMPAC cable. I think Trevor Thatcher interviewed him for the job but I maybe wrong on that, – but he managed to get into OTC because of his prior knowledge of COMPAC.
He was an early one to recognize that Fiji was not the place to live if you were not of the Fijian Island race.
His immigration was made easier by the election of the Whitlam Government in 1972 who officially abolished the white Aust. policy.
From Orm Butler:
That’s very sad news. I have great memories of Danny in ITMC and INMC, and always found him to be a smart and gentle person.
From Geraldine Yee, daughter:
